Is Hollydeva fighting Harry Potter?

No, of course not. Her opponent among the wizards, the “Wizards”, is called Cevaine Mire, or Kevin Meier.

But the author called this boy a wizard because she would have had to ask the author, the revered J.K. Rowling, for permission to name the most famous wizard’s apprentice. She didn’t know how she could have contacted her famous colleague. “Via Twitter!” someone said. But there, Ms. Rowling is all about women’s rights in defense against transgender and gender-confused assaults.

So, is she fighting the boy wizard or not? Yes, she is. I don’t share the enthusiasm for little magicians. Because, believe it or not, we live in a world dominated by magic. And that’s not necessarily good for the world.

Modern magicians no longer wave magic wands or think they can achieve anything with Latin spells. But they are changing and distorting the world, the earth. We live in a world in which nature and naturalness are in retreat. City dwellers in particular live in artificial worlds that are magically created out of thin air.

As if by magic, information travels from one place to the whole world. Invisible waves. But it’s not just information, it’s mainly manipulation. Magicians, sorcerers, wizards want to manipulate. They manipulate nature and humanity. They do it for their own gain, for power. Magicians are primarily interested in power.

Harry Potter and power? He is more on the defensive and tries to contain the evil Voldemort. He is trying to avenge the death of his parents. He is trying to preserve Hogwarts. He’s not evil after all.

No, Harry Potter is not. He’s still a boy. We don’t know how Harry Potter uses his wizarding power as a family man in later years to provide a secure life for his family.

Hollydeva fights the Changers. She wants nature to be preserved. That doesn’t mean that we can’t use the conveniences of technology. Do we really want a world without technology, like 1000 years ago? Because of hygiene alone, we like a certain artificiality.

However, there are peoples who live without any artificiality. Their lifespan is probably also rather short due to a lack of hygiene and protection from the dangers of nature. But is the length of a life really important? We would prefer quality over quantity. But honestly, we would also like to live a hundred years.

So Hollydeva has to find a way to curb the machinations of the magicians and alchemists without having to give up some of his achievements completely.

But now the contradiction arises again. Harry Potter is a romantic after all! He didn’t create the artificial world! He doesn’t want the young people who read about him to constantly stare at smartphones or computer games!

Yes, that’s right, Harry Potter is an answer to the disenchantment of the world. Romantic magic and the magic of modern science, technology and rationality are fundamentally different. Evil voices might say that the Romantics are not particularly effective, that they are simply fairy tales and superstition.

Ah, the romantic magicians, wizards, “wizards” are more like the mystics. Hollydeva and Harry Potter are siblings in spirit!

Well, in my experience, there is indeed effective magic. There are magicians who can effect change by virtue of activated powers, their consciousness and attitude, and through certain rituals. And there are mystics who experience higher states through meditation, contemplation, awareness and exercises.

Romantic magicians and mystics make use of the achievements of the modern world. They watch TV series, travel in airplanes, take showers and have food delivered (no, I cook myself!).

They are united by a longing for magic and fairy tales, for the mystical in this inherently wonderful world.

They are united by their aversion to philistines, to people who abhor the unusual and want to suppress others. They are also united by their rejection of technocrats, money-grabbers and politicians who invent every possible lie to win votes.

Some want to change the world by magic. Others want to let the magic of the world work its magic on them, to open themselves up to it.

To be honest, Hollydeva has both in her and so does Harry Potter.
